March 13, 2010

In like a LAMB and hopefully out like a LAMB!!! LOL

Spring is in the air and now's the time to really GET AFTER this VO business!!! I've re-located my office/studio to 9820 East M-89 Richland, MI 49083. I've built a new monster of a computer I call "THE BEAST" Not to brag (but okay I will) it has a Terrabyte of memory...a video card...an audio card...64 bit of something....Windows 7 ...enough USB Ports to outfit a control tower at Kalamazoo International Airport...Heck it even has built in handles on the top of the case to carry it around easier!! Now I have to load Windows XP and a 32 bit processor card as my equipment doesn't support WINDOWS 7!!! Man .....nothing like being on the cutting edge of technology!! Digi Design is working on making their software/hardware compatible with Win7....in the meantime I'll have WinXP and the 32 bit by noon Monday!!

I have two talent agencies that are sending me auditions at least once a week! (I just need a nice National gig to really get things moving!) I've signed on with VOPlanet and Voices.com and I'm already a member at voices123. The next step is to produce a new commercial demo and blooper demo. My narration demo is sounding pretty good to me. I'm traveling to Detroit on March 30th to assist my new friend Carri with the producing of her VO demo. I'm hoping that she is prepared as the studio costs in the Motor City are a little higher than Kalamazoo. I'm going there versus having her come over here as it will give me a chance to meet up with family and friends plus I can stop in and see the talent agencies that rep me in Detroit.

WMU announcing has come to a close for the season except for the annual Brown and Gold FB game in April. And maybe a scrimmage VB game w/Valpo on March 20th. In the meantime I'm going to propose an idea to the staff at WMU to see about getting a little more life into the games and into the stands. Simply put....the fans need more entertainment than just the game itself. No one will come fill the seats unless you're consistently winning or playing a Big Ten school. So....I'll put together some ideas and meet with WMU staff over the summer.

Well I better get ready for the day 6:48 AM now and children will be getting up soon for B-Fast!!

PEACE!!!

Tommy

Well as great as the New Year started it took a turn when my Aunt Evie Hoffman passed away from a massive stroke on January 6th. I produced a video for the funeral which you can view here I also produced two other video's ...one was a moment of silence at the K-Wings hockey game here and another video here which shows photo's of her playing the banjo. I will truly miss her R.I.P. Aunt Evie.

On a happier note I'm receiving auditions from one of my talent agencies in CT. and I'm hoping to get back on track with voice over work!

Best wishes to everyone! Keep on keeping on!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Mine is off to a great start as I have auditioned three projects so far (one for Nike!) and more will be coming I'm sure. The audio book "Spirit of The Badge is slowly picking up steam in sales and the author has even been approached when she will be starting her second book! I hope and wish everyone a very Happy New Year....may you be blessed with all your dreams and desires!!

December 21, 2009

Well it's the week of Christmas!! I have moved my office to a location near home as I needed to be out of the house for the two weeks that the kids are home plus I need to have a space for next summer. Now all I need is the sound booth and I'll be all set! Some more good news...I'm now a part of the stable of voice over talent at DeSanti Talent  Of course I realize that it's a LARGE stable of talent and I'm at the bottom of the list but HEY....it's a start!! The last thing I can say here is I want to wish all my clients and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year! All my Best TC

Okay I finished producing the audio book "Spirit of The Badge" which is available to order at http://www.spiritofthebadge.com/preorder-the-book  Then I received some more good news. The author would like me to assist her with the fulfillment portion of her business. Burning and labeling the CD's then packaging and shipping them for her. And finally....I have received three auditions from an agency in Los Angeles!!!  WOW what a great way to start the month!! Happy Holidays everyone!

November 19, 2009

The audio book Spirit of The Badge is complete and out for replication. I also received an e-mail today from Eric at On Scene Productions of Phoenix AZ providing the video of the VO I did for Honeywell

November 7, 2009

WOW its been too long since I updated this page. (Thanks Mike Turnbull for bringing that to my attention.) Well I'm nearly done with the audiobook Spirit of The Badge. I have two stories left that need editing and one story that needs to be tweaked a bit. Then I'll make the master copies and send them to the publisher/author for duplication. I've recently had the pleasure of mentoring with Mike Turnbull of Harbor Springs Michigan and Jupiter Florida (depending on the season) He is a fellow voice artist who has really been helpful in the area of marketing. I've also been offered the opportunity to join Such A Voice as an instructor/coach as well as a demo producer. I will know more on Novemebr 18th. I have recorded projects for three new clients .....two in Arizona and one in Utah! Business is picking up as we near the holidays. Well I better go as the kids want B-fast!! Happy Saturday everyone!!

October 11, 2009

I was given the opportunity to audition for a number of parts for the Jim Henson Company through Wright Casting in Sherman Oaks CA. I didn't land a part but at least the efforts are showing some results.

August 9, 2009

What an AWESOME SUMMER! I have been awarded an AWESOME project from Ingrid Dean of Topaz Heart Publishing.  I'm recording her book titled "Spirit Of The Badge." 60 true stories of Divine Guidance, Miracles, and Intuition as told by law enforcement officials. The official release date of her book is on October 1st but you can purchase your book early at www.spiritofthebadge.com I can't thank Ingrid enough for giving me the opportunity to record and produce her audio book!

October 7, 2008

Well September was a great month for me in voice over! I narrated my TV shows for Americana Outdoors a DVD for Wellington Christian Schools in Wellington FLA. I also auditioned for a documentary about OCD from a studio called Tijuana Entertainment near LA California. I just finished a :30 second commercial for Yamaha Outboards through Careco Multimedia in San Antonio Texas. Later this week I'm going to be shooting another TV commercial for Weber Lumber. Two weeks ago I had to turn down an opportunity to be an extra for the movie "Gifted Hands" due to a conflict in schedule. I hope the movie industry starts doing more in Grand Rapids Michigan which is a lot closer to me than Detroit.  In November I will be announcing the football game between Illinois and WMU at the Ford Field in Detroit.  Always a great time at the Ford Field!  Well I better get back to work.  PEACE!

September 12, 2008

WOW lots of great things have happened recently! I've signed on with two talent agencies in the Detroit area. The I Group and Productions Plus Talent Agency. It's been said that I'm selling myself short by doing only voice over work.  I should be acting too! So upon that advice I signed on with Real Style two weeks ago.  Since then I have had three opportunities to be an extra in the movie "Whip It" directed by Drew Barrymore.  The last opportunity was on September 11, 08 on Belle Isle in Detroit.  I was on set from 11:00 AM until the final wrap of the day at 1:30 AM Friday.  I finally made it home from the motor city by 5:00 AM only to get up at 7:00 to get the kids ready for school. WHAT a GREAT time I had being around the actors and actresses like Drew Barrymore, Marcia Gay Harden, Ellen Page and Daniel Stern. FUN TIMES MAN! I hope I don't end up on the cutting room floor.

November 12, 2008

I have an appointment on Thursday the 13th of November with Carrie Ray Casting Agency in Royal Oak Michigan. I also recently finished a number of commercials and tag lines for a new client in Dothan Alabama called M3 Productions.

December 17, 2008

Well our adoption of our foster child was finalized November 25, 2008! 2 1/2 year old D'Quantey is now officially Garrett! Now we have another foster child potentially coming into our care after the first of the year.  Time to add on another couple more bedrooms!  Voice over has been a little quiet for the past two weeks.  I have been auditioning for a couple of projects from The I Group as well as a client in San Jose California. While I wait for those results I'll keep doing what I can to gain more business during these tough economic times. Nothing in life is free. All good things are accomplished through effort and being as positive about things that come at you in life. I recently voiced a project that I'm trying to get linked from you tube to my site...I hope to have it up and running soon. I want to take a moment to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS!! May the New Year bring you all the things in life that will keep you happy!  Remember Jesus is the reason for the season...and you can do all things through him!!

February 17, 2009

Well here we are mid way through February and I'm wondering when will the voice over scripts start pouring in! Well I guess when you take three weeks off due to illness and Christmas vacation things tend to slow down a great deal. Owning a business is a lot like pushing that wheelbarrow...it only works when you PUSH IT!! So things are looking up as we get ready to head into March.  The two 6 year olds had there tonsils removed on the same day this week and Julia my wife has been sick with a  cold and flu for the last two weeks...so the house is a little down right now as we try to cope with all the crud!! I'm certainly looking forward to summer and the beach at Silver Lake http://www.silverlakerc.com/ Well I gotta run and get back to work. Peace Out!

February 19, 2009

GREAT NEWS!! I was contacted by one of the talent agencies that represents me and I will be playing the part of a police officer in a movie starring Hillary Swank titled "Betty Anne Waters!" They are filming in Ann Arbor or Jackson!! The cool thing is the agency contacted me by PHONE....not a mass e-mail like they do to find extras for other movies! March 2nd and 3rd I will be on the set of the movie Betty Anne Waters!! I CAN'T WAIT!!

March 1, 2009

Well I found out that I lost a client to another voice artist.  I'm bummed big time as they were a GREAT client to work with for the past two years. I will still maintain a good line of communications with them in case other projects come up where I would be a good fit. So as you can see it is vital to market yourself everyday so that when you lose one client you can gain another.

March 28, 2009

It's Saturday and I'm trying to WORK from the HOME?!? Okay I lost Americana Outdoors but on the upside I did a TV commercial again for my client in Muskegon. I also auditioned 2x in one week for The I Group talent agency in Southfield! So things are looking up as I continue my marketing efforts to gain more business in this tough economy!
